Flash floods in several low-lying areas in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Flash floods were reported over several low-lying areas in Singapore. Callers called MediaCorp Hotline, saying several low-lying shop houses along Changi Road and Telok Kurau were flooded.

Floods were also reported along Braddell Road, Bukit Timah and Chai Chee.

At Upper Thomson Road, Singapore Civil Defence Officers helped evacuate 20 passengers stranded from inside an SBS bus due to the flooding.

Several passengers also had to be evacuated from another bus along Bukit Timah Road.

MediaCorp understands several drivers were also stranded in their vehicles until Civil Defence officers arrived.

One caller said a fallen tree along Dorset Road caused heavy traffic congestion.

Wow. Don't think it rained that hard yesterday.

So, we still have too much debris in the canal, right?

insurance will pay the car owners for damage?

and they might as well, relocate the car park area, and convert this into a swimming pool.... cavity already dug...

Singapore - Flood

Postby tonylim » Sat Jul 17, 2010 6:34 pm

Had lunch with my Taiwanese friends, they said if S'pore keep having floods in prime areas, they will sell their properties and invest elsewhere.
Is this the begining of the downturn of the property market ?

before the construction the Barrack.....

our long kangs that are connected to the Marina Basin, get to "lao sai" twice a day".....(change of tide ) all rubbish get wash out.....

BUT now, these long kangs only get to lao sai during heavy rain......so it is like constipation.......
this morning lowest tide is at 0846hrs....

I have nothing against the Barrack, in fact, i think it is a brilliant piece of engineering.....BUT if there is flaw in our system, we have admit it graciously and work at it....instead if of giving silly excuses....

Bottom line is this:

People are paid alot of money to fix problems, not find excuses... if they can't fix it, they should be let go and a new team who can fix the problem be put in place.
