Ok, I rattle your cage one more time b4 we debate other things , ok ? :P ;)

1) The Malaysian government imposed the ban on Muslims becuz of pressure from Muslim groups not becuz they are wize. Even Beyonce concert gets a lot of attention ..

2) I think Marina & Sentosa were chosen for the convention facilities. Hmm... maybe choose Ubin instead ?

3) I dont think they are interested in the revenue from gambling. I think they want the Tourism business. Also, they may want to also keep the money destined for Genting and Star Cruise, to stay within Singapore..

4) I dont think the Casino operators would want to upset the authorities. The Spirit of the Agreement is to generate tourism business not make money off the local population. They can always increase the entrance fee to Sin$1000 later if it becomes a problem later.

it's ok...i like it when you tickle me.... i much prefer to spar with some one of substance and can stay level headed, like you... so, it's always a pleasure... ;)

there are some money that should not be earned, even if it means we live more modestly... like we do not agree that we should trade in opium/cocaine/ganja/ice/ecstacy/etc... same goes for consequential money generated from casino operations...

as a nation, we must decide for ourselves if we want to turn this country into a gambling haven for hardcores and/or cultivate a gambling culture...

how do you think parents will explain to their children..."son/daughter, i dont want you to pick up gambling habit....but it's ok for the country to operate casinos"....oxymoronic

Ha Ha ... the debates continues. We should put a time limit ;)

1) I would put Casinos to be on the same level as Breeding Animals for their Meat, Weapons, Porn, Liquor, Prostitution, Cigarettes etc... They exist so we just have to live with them and to see how best to deal with the issue ..

2) Singapore would just be one of the many stops for hardcore ...

3) I would rather tell my boys that life is actually a gamble and always make sure that you have the odds on your side. Learn how to gamble properly rather than to gamble with the odds against you. Choose your gambling vehicle carefully.

Example: Learn how to gamble on Equities properly rather than to play Roulette. Learn how to gamble on Properties properly than to play Black Jack, unless you know how to count cards and the casino is stupid enough to use only one pack of cards ..

Good debate.

As I cant beat the casinos, I will buy the shares of the Casinos when there's a crash.

There's an old joke that says that Genting only buys insurance one way for the transportation of their cash....only from Genting Highlands to the KL banks and never the other way :D

College dropout wins $8.5 million poker jackpot

LAS VEGAS (AFP) – A 21-year-old college dropout won the World Series of Poker early Tuesday, completing the biggest comeback in the tournament's history to earn a 8.5 million dollar jackpot.

Joe Cada, the youngest champion in the 40-year history of the game's richest and most prestigious event, won with a pair of nines after about 90 hands head-to-head against second-place finisher Darvin Moon.

Moon had a queen and jack, and none of the other cards drawn in the Texas Hold ?Em hand improved it.

"I'd like to thank all my fans and my friends," an emotional Cada told a raucous theater full of supporters in bright-yellow T-shirts bearing his name. Later he told reporters: "It's really surreal right now."

Cada squandered a huge lead at the start of play late Monday against 46-year-old Moon before barreling back in a finale of constant betting in which he moved strongly ahead for a time.

It was played before an audience of more than 1,500 people at the Rio Hotel-Casino at a table stacked with bricks of cash. A diamond-encrusted championship bracelet gleamed on the side of the table.

Cada's triumph was particularly stunning because he was down to just two million chips out of 194.8 million on Saturday but came back to finish as the chip leader.

"He's another bright young voice, he's very good and he'll be a new light on the scene for some time," said Dennis Phillips, a poker professional who finished third in the 2008 World Series. "He'll be a great ambassador for the game."

Moon earned 5.1 million dollars for his second-place finish. The lumberjack eschewed the spotlight and had never been on a jet until he won entry to the World Series by winning a tournament at a local casino that cost him 130 dollars to enter.

The top two outlasted a field of 6,494 who played down to nine finalists in July and then survived a 17-hour marathon session that ended Sunday morning when they knocked out Frenchman Antoine Saout for third place at 3.5 million dollars.

Cada is from recession-hit Detroit, Michigan, the son of an out-of-work auto parts design engineer.

His mother, Ann, is a blackjack dealer at a Detroit casino who tried to dissuade her son from gambling when he left college to focus on his online play.

"When he started doing so well, I said go live your dream," she said. "He can always go back to school if he wants but how many people do what they love?"

It's hard to say.

How is being a professional poker player different from the professional gamer in chess, the full time day trader, etc?

To be at the top of this game requires lots of discipline, mental power and understanding of the probability as well.

Grey area I will say.

I see it as a parent who encourage the kids to pursue what they are good at. Not much difference from a parent who tell his kid to go for Olympic Gold Medal while setting the studies aside.

High chance, the family environment is not as good as those who have the ability to groom their kids to be world class swimmer, gymnastics, ballet dancers etc.

Just a thought
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

It's hard going to the casinoes and not making any bets...

Day-in Day-out, from 9 to 5, I'm at the SGX and HKSE casinoes, yet I have not been really making any big bets.

It's been mostly to reduce my positions or to stag on the better priced IPOs.

Unfortunately, if you dont show up, you are not able to spot the opportunities :(
