SINGAPORE - The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) had achieved an average rate of return of 5.8 per cent in its portfolio over the past 20 years to March 2008 in Singapore dollar terms. This was 4.5 per cent above global inflation.

The global markets tanked about 30-45% more from March 2008 levels when STI was at 3000... :?

I guess...we can wait for an updated report that includes period March 2008 to Feb 2009.

The figures should be interesting.
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

Interesting report. Note the absence of accolades and the "leave it to you to you read between the lines" comments from Dhanabalan... :D

"The team has already embarked on a different stance since mid-2007, and has begun to review its long-term plans under different scenarios prompted by the economic downturn," Chairman S. Dhanabalan said at a media briefing.

"If we are to bring in new leadership, it would be just as good a time as any to involve a new leader in this review."

By EMILYN YAP

Temasek Holdings' net portfolio value fell 31 per cent from S$185 billion as of Mar 31, 2008 to S$127 billion as of Nov 30, 2008, said Lim Hwee Hua, Senior Minister of State for Finance in Parliament on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, she said that 'this is less than the corresponding declines in the MSCI (Singapore) of 44 per cent and the MSCI (Asia ex Japan) of 45 per cent, both in Singapore dollar terms over the same period'.
