Last week I bought top quality durian, 'Butter', very fragrant and smooth. According to the stall-holder, butter and mao shan wang are of the same species, butter is from JB, Mao Shan Wang from Pahang. They have been calling this species butter for many, many years and therefore stick to the same name. If you want to know the location of the stall, read my post on page 14 of this thread. I am not related to the stall-holder in any way except as customer and vendor.

Hi Cherry,
Thanks for your info. Yeah, I heard of Sindy @ Balestiar. They are indeed knowledgeable but didn't not try becoz of their prices. :?

Anyway, I think boleh land export all good durians to little red dot becoz they can fetch better prices here hohohohohoho ... but I never had a kampung durian fest before, hence I'm hunting around for good location in boleh land

Lord of the Lew Lian, O.

Value the O in your IMO.

From your pedestal lordship seat, looking down at the durian trees all around you, far and wide, do you see:

1. Big durians or small durians, or only illusionary durians growing?

2. Flesh thick thick or thin thin or no flesh?

3. Fragrant durians that evoke happiness or smelly durians that smell like corpse?

4. Got crawling worms or hibernating worms or Paw Chiak ( Guarantee Eat)?

5. And... :geek:  :ugeek:

Durio

Fyi, the price of butter durian is $22 per kilo.

Cashew durian, $20 per kilo, it is nearly as good as butter durian, flesh colour is like cashew nuts'.

my dear cherry....u tease me :)

1. Big durians or small durians, or only illusionary durians growing?
k : if wana eat right now, illusionary, if can wait a while, then small durians and of cos, if got patience to wait for the actual season to come, then big durians

2. Flesh thick thick or thin thin or no flesh?
k : now, i think, thin flesh, big seeds... must be careful dont put whole fruit in mouth... can choke on those seeds... now is not the season yet for "jiu ji" yet...but maybe soon soon

3. Fragrant durians that evoke happiness or smelly durians that smell like corpse?
k : this one...i think depends on which vendor you go to...some counters sell really lousy durians...becos, they have no connection to the good plantation...so, will usually continue to sell low grade durians ..so must choose carefully, which counter to buy

4. Got crawling worms or hibernating worms or Paw Chiak ( Guarantee Eat)?
k: actually, no such thing as Pow Chiak... all bluff one when they make such claims... there's always the risk that the fruit is not as good as it seems...so, usually start off to test the vendor and his fruits, with a smaller sized pick. let the vendor open the fruit then see if good or not...then can consider the bigger ones...

5. And... :geek:  :ugeek:
k: and...i think durian season is coming quite soon.... 8-)

Lord of the Lew Lian, BEWARE!

When you 'traverse all the way to boleh land', 'those lovely, gorgeous and delicious durians' you dream to 'gusto down' may turn out to be ordinary durians you can buy at $2 per fruit, plentifully, at Geylang.

Perhaps need to do your FA & TA first to zoom in to the right sweet spot.
