I presume that's an opt-out scheme? That is - if you're careless or complacent, then you keep paying for the service without really feeling the pain each month, but the vendor add all the pennies together and laugh to the bank?

Singapore Hot Stocks-Singapore Press Holdings falls on downgrade

SINGAPORE, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Shares of Singapore Press Holdings bucked a market rally to fall on Tuesday, after Credit Suisse downgraded it to "neutral" from its previous "outperform" rating.

The bank cut its target price for Singapore Press Holdings to S$3.57 from S$4.85 in a report on Monday, citing the deteriorating economic environment.

"Looking at the latest consensus estimate, we believe that further earnings downgrades by the market are highly likely," said Credit Suisse analyst Sean Quek.

18-Dec Singapore - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) is expanding its range of cross-media advertising packages in a move it says it is not tied to the impact of the global recession.

SPH has begun offering three new cross-media packages to clients that cover its large suite of newspaper, online, magazine, mobile, out-of-home and event properties
, and can be targeted to specific audiences. The media company told Marketing the demand for cross-media deals from both clients and media agencies has increased.

"We were all the more convinced that this is the right way to go when our launch timing coincided with the financial downturn, when advertisers are seeking ways and means to get more value for their investment. We want to let advertisers know that SPH is their partner in business for the longer term and we intend to weather the tough months ahead together with them," an SPH spokesperson told Marketing.

SPH marketing director Tan Su-lin Tan said this is not the first time the company has offered cross-media deals but SPH is now promoting them "in a more concerted way".

SPH is also offering discounts of 28% to 40% to clients who invest in the cross-media packages for campaigns running between January and March. The cross-media deals have been developed by SPH's Strategic Marketing Department, a new unit which was set up in September and is headed by SPH New Media general manager Geoff Tan.

Ad revenue must be very low moving forward.

Look at the chart below. While other index counters had rally up, SPH went on a sky diving trip.

It was only June last year that Paragon was valued at $2b.

I wonder, what will this year's valuation be at?

Or will this year see a shift in the way assets are being valued?

eg. Property don't need to value every year..... Value only when you want to sell???.... mark-to-market, mark-to-maturity, mark-to-when-I-decide-to-sell-at-a-good-price-or-whatever???

This Economic-Value Accounting , EVA and its derivative Shareholders' Value (for which I believe many PMET's performance bonuses are pegged to) is the culprit lor.

Poor headline results but operating cash flow is holding up at around 150mil (before working capital funding). Ad revenues are trending down and we'll see the impact probably later this year.

Overall their balance sheet is in decent shape and they should be able to fund their current property development to completion. Will see if they can collect the $$$ following completion.

Vested.

let me be very frank.... i would rather bet my money on an ant surviving past 30 days than to place money on SPH...

it has a smallest market (besides luxenburg), a controlled master, and therefore, a make believe free press and a limited revenue company... why would i be stupid to put 1 dime into this company for the long haul ??? why would i, unless, i have gone mad
