Dow: Down
SSE: Flat
HSI: Down -453 Pre-market

1) The trend is your friend
2) Is HSI going to be following SSE today rather than the Dow ?
3) Would the Dow rebound tonight ?
4) Very tempted to buy a Call for two days...

Be careful if you are doing any short term trades in HK. Looks like I should not buy any warrants today..

Signal No 8 may be hoisted as storm nears

Hong Kong may raise its third- highest cyclone signal later today, closing its markets and offices, when Typhoon Hagupit is forecast to be closest to the city, the weather observatory said.

Hong Kong schools, public services and private businesses are required to close when the observatory raises signal No. 8, meaning that average wind speeds as high as 117 kilometers per hour are expected.

Hagupit's eye is forecast to pass to the south of the city late today or early tomorrow, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

"It is possible we will have to put up the signal No 8,'' said Steven Ng, senior scientific officer at the observatory.

Hi winston,

That's a very good update on the climate.

We need all the elements in place.

Thanks!

TOL:_

The long holidays are coming up in China.

Some people are taking profits while the traders are reducing their positions.

Trading volume would be thin going into the holidays. Would be quite easy to push the market, either up or down..

Would the SOEs be doing their buybacks during this period ?

When would they be announcing that 400b tax and fiscal package ?

I think most Singaporeans are elated with the presence of the F1. However, the rest of the world does not even know that the F1 will be in Singapore this weekend, including me :P

Signal No 3 in force as kindergarten classes suspended

The tropical cyclone warning Signal Number 3 is now in force as Typhoon Hagupit closes in on the territory.

Classes at kindergartens, schools for children with physical disability and schools for children with intellectual disability have been suspended.

The Transport Department advises passengers to take note of public announcements on bus services as some buses may be re-routed according to the weather conditions.

Ferry services may also be suspended at a short notice irrespective of whether the authorities decide to raise the severe tropical storm Signal Number 8.
