The engineer says the seller could not be contacted after he made three separate transactions to the bank account provided.

The man, who is in his fifties, purchased three tickets after seeing it advertised on the e-commerce platform Carousell.

University student cheated of over RM300K in online job scam

She was interested in getting a 5% commission by ordering goods over an app (purportedly from ecommerce portal Zalora).

"The victim then communicated with the seller to obtain a link from the app".

The victim was required to make a payment for goods to an account number given, with the condition that the money must be transferred within 20 minutes.

From May 18 to June 30, the victim made 53 transfers to seven local bank accounts for the purpose of completing the order of goods to obtain the promised commission.

Lab assistant in Melaka loses over RM120,000 to cryptocurrency scam

The victim deposited the money into one of the friend's bank accounts on Nov 19, 2020.

He said the victim was promised a monthly payment of RM4,038 for a long-term period with her initial investment.

However, the victim only received RM12,114 for three months between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 before she decided to lodge a report, a few days ago.

Separately, a 46-year-old planter and his wife lost RM285,000 to a non-existent investment scam.

The couple had befriended a woman named "Annie" after seeing her advertisement on Facebook, where lucrative returns were promised.

He added that the victims discovered that they were cheated when unable to log into the website provided by the person once the investment was made in April of this year.

Failed ransom scam phone call video went viral online

In the two-minute video, the male victim who was receiving the call that claimed his child was detained by the alleged kidnapper, remained calm.

"What is my child's name? Don't talk too much, tell me the child's name first," he said to the scammer.

The suspect failed to answer the question and tried to change the topic, ultimately hanging up when he realised he had failed in his attempt to fool the victim.

‘Investors’ say RM10mil lost in schemes run by ‘Datuk’

The lawyer for 10 people who invested in the schemes said they had not seen any returns from their investments.

One of the victims, S Sozhan, 46, said he invested RM180,000 in October 2021 into a 20-month scheme, but he has not received any returns.

Sozhan, a businessman, said he was promised up to RM20,000 in profits, in 20 months. “But I didn’t even get a bottle of mineral water.”

Even the blind are not spared by scammers

Loh was among 30 people, mostly aged above 55 from the visually impaired community, who had collectively lost about RM1.5mil after investing between RM5,000 and RM100,000 in the scam fund.

The fund they were involved with, CP Markets (Cooper Markets) Malaysia, was in January 2021 listed in the Securities Commission’s Investor Alert List, an advisory to the public against investing with a company that is not licensed or approved by the commission.
