A total of 18 Malaysians have made it to the Forbes World’s Billionaire List for this year.
Their cumulative wealth is US$54.7 billion (RM240.38 billion).

Robert Kuok retains his position as the richest man in Malaysia. His US$11.8 billion (RM51.88 billion) portfolio puts him at number 146 on the global list.

Earthquakes could occur in Malaysia in the future, warn experts

By LIZA MOKHTAR

Due to a series of major earthquakes which happened in Turkey, Japan and Indonesia in the past two months, experts are warning Malaysians to increase preparedness in the face of natural disasters.

"Looking at the subduction zone (a large fault line of the earth's plate that moves in a pulsating manner) in Sumatra, for example, strong earthquakes of up to 9.5 magnitude can occur.

"As for Malaysia, the peninsular area is expected to experience an earthquake of up to magnitude 6 while in Sabah it can reach magnitude 7".
