I think it is because of our own little ego.

The ego needs some sort of separation.

That is why we separate ourselves from others through "Countries", "Race", "Religion", "Gender", "Background" etc.

If there is no separation, our own little ego will not survive.

And our own little ego would do it's best to survive :D. Hence we create things to separate ourselves from others, instead of focussing on things that are common to all of us :)

Recall that there was a Sansui restaurant in one of the malls. Not sure which one now. It has been a few years since I frequented that place. Was it at Anchor Point ?

Soup Kitchen best dish is the samsui chicken... quite good..

However, if you compare overall service and food quality, I like Dian Xiao Er much better.. Ate there a few times in different locations, they never fail to impress me with the service. However, both of them belong to the Soup Rest. group.

they have quite a few restaurants situated across the island...their original one is near raffles hotel...

tried their samsui chicken...quite a big serving...ok tasting lah... they serve stir fried tapioca vege as well...must have a good set of teeth to chew this fibrous vegetable...price wise...i doubt real samsui women can afford to eat there..

kennynah - any problem if I convert this thread to a regular "chit chat thread" that has no main focus? :D Since I guess it's useful for both weekdays and weekends. Also, let's say strictly no cut and paste of news articles allowed - else I might as well go read newspapers. Ang kong kia is okay?

This would be strictly for chit chat out of boredom - for topics not covered elsewhere. From here, topics that get traction can then spin into new threads.
