Steve Jobs on RIMM

http://www.fastcompany.com/1696148/andr ... +Headlines)
...

Blackberry has “a hard mountain to climb”

And as for Research In Motion, makers of BlackBerry? They’re all but done for unless they change their focus, Jobs said. The iPhone sold 14.1 million units in its past quarter, compared to 12.1 million Blackberrys in RIM’s most recent quarter. Jobs said he doesn’t think RIM will catch up again. “They must move beyond their area of strength and comfort into the unfamiliar territory of trying to become a software platform company,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a challenge for them to create a competitive platform and to convince developers to create apps for a third software platform.”

Hi 802, how do you feel about playbook? RIMM seems to be keen to beat Apple and many instance make direct comparison with Apple (may be it is a marketing gimmick?). What is RIMM product positioning? I hope to see a platform that allow simple and nice way of integrated ebooks, web and etc. Recent launch of google ebooks shows a better way of handling ebooks. The tablet race is not over yet and it is nice to see addition of TAT and hope to see what spin out from this addition.

Tough topic to answer. There's a few areas that you are asking.

But, where do I see RIMM at the end of the day?

I think RIMM is learning from AAPL. Own the product, improve the design and focus on one market.

So, RIMM will likely remains focus on Entreprise customers. And I think they can remain leaders in this sector, though it may not be 'as sexy as' AAPL.

Thanks for sharing, 802. I guess you are right, RIMM likely focus on enterprise segment, and hope to see more enterprise focus features from RIMM. By the way, not vested. :D

RIMM continues to face downwards pressure since its gap down last Friday.

Immediate support is at $56 and $55.

On the Ichimoku Weekly Chart, we can see that RIMM is right inside the kumo now with the kumo support around $54 – $53 region.

A break on the Weekly kumo will probably send it down to the $40s; around $45 as next support.
