Five Reasons META Could Outperform in 2026, According to Jefferies

by Ghazal Ahmed

We see 5 reasons for META to outperform in ’26, making it a top pick:

1) strong potential for upside to estimates, with cons assuming revenue growth slows by ~3 pts to 18% y/y and operating margins compress ~500bps to 36% on AI investments — creating a low bar;

2) attractive risk/reward at 22x NTM PE a 6-turn PE discount vs. GOOGL;

3) big AI hires poised to deliver in ’26;

4) continued momentum from AI investments in META’s Core Flywheel;

5) accelerating activation of major incremental rev engines, w/ WhatsApp having potential to grow from a $9Bn run rate today to $36Bn by FY29, with additional upside from Threads & Llama/AI.

We see potential for META to do over $33 in FY27 EPS which at 25x multiple = a >$825 stock.

Collectively, its family of apps, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Facebook Messenger, attracted an average of 3.54 billion daily active users in September.

Since no other social media platform comes close to this figure, Meta is able to charge a hearty premium for ad placement.

The good news for Meta Platforms is that it’s already reaping rewards from AI. Despite spending tens of billions on AI infrastructure, it’s the incorporation of generative AI solutions into its social media advertising platforms that’s generating positive results.

Meta is also sitting on quite a treasure chest. It ended the third quarter with $44.5 billion in combined cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities.

Furthermore, Meta’s (predominantly ad-driven) operating activities have generated $79.6 billion in net cash through the first nine months of 2025. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has the luxury of investing in high-growth initiatives.

The icing on the cake is Meta’s attractive valuation. Though Meta’s forward P/E of 22 is more or less in line with its average forward-earnings multiple over the last half-decade, Meta could modestly pare back its aggressive AI spending and blow analysts’ earnings per share estimates out of the water.

META Platforms - Stock Analyst Research
Target Price* 825.00
Recommendation ACCUMULATE

Meta Platform Inc. - Resilient ad performance back strategic spending

4Q25 results exceeded our expectations, with revenue up 24% YoY to US$59.9bn and adj.

PATMI increased 9% YoY to US$22.7bn, driven by robust ad revenue growth.

FY25 revenue/PATMI were at 100%/110% of our FY25 forecasts.

Earnings pulled down by Reality Labs losses of US$6bn in FY25.

Video and Threads continued to show attractive monetisation and engagement opportunities, with Instagram Reels watch time increasing 30% YoY in the US, while FB video watch time grew double-digits.

We maintained ACCUMULATE rating but raised the DCF target price to US$825 (prev. US$770).

As we rolled into the new financial year, our FY26e revenue and PATMI forecast was upgraded by 7% & 8% respectively, reflecting the expected continued benefits of integrating LLMs with META’s recommendation models, which should further enhance ad efficiency and pricing.
