Global smartphone shipments declined 11% YoY in 2Q23, as sluggish market demand began to affect market leaders such as Samsung and Apple (AAPL.US), according to the data of Canalys.

During the quarter, Samsung was the champion with a market share of 21%; Apple came as second with 17% market share; and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) ranked third with a market share of 13%.

Canalys analysts explained that the smartphone market has recorded six consecutive quarters of decline since 2022, but the market has sent early signs of recovery as inventories have begun to dwindle.
