2012

The earlier half of 2012 will still see many struggling to recover from economical situations and the aftermath of natural disasters.

More disasters will hit the world and this will be a common world issue through the years to come.

Having said all the not so positive things, this is not the end of the world, yet! This is 2012, not in the movies as shown, but it might happen.

However, this is the year of the Dragon, which will be an Auspicious Sign as it is one of the most powerful signs in the 12 Horoscope signs. By the later part of the year, situation will change for the better and we will see the sun after the dark clouds clear away.

This year will be the year of the Water Dragon (壬辰年). 壬belongs to Water Element and 辰belongs to Earth Element, despite the natural disaster and economical situation, it is still an auspicious year where there will be much career and business opportunities for us.

This will also be an auspicious year for tying the nuptial knot and having the Dragon babies to add on to our family tree. This is also a good year to start the hobby of keeping fishes. The Water and Earth element clash for the year can be soften when we merge all the elements together in harmony.

Have an aquarium with more red or orange colour fishes, such as Tetras, Parrot fish, Goldfish, Discus, Arowana or Flowerhorn 花角aka Luo Han fish. 風水羅漢魚. It would be even better if you can have some pebbles, driftwoods or plants in the aquarium before it will create a harmony for all the Five Elements.

We can turn adverse situations into favourable situations with correct blending of elements and placing of the aquarium in good fengshui positions in the house. Lastly, do remember to help save the world by being eco friendly, using less paper to save more trees and help others within your limits.

All these kind acts will bring about good returns, far greater than you can imagine. Always take time off to rest and relax your tired mind, exercise regularly and eat healthily.

As the Dragon, Dog, Goat, Rabbit and Ox will conflict with “Tai Sui” (太岁) in 2012, there is a need to pray to “Tai Sui” (太岁) for health and good fortune, and also to be safe by avoiding misfortunes.

The prayers can start on or after 04/02/2012 after 6.30pm. For those Animal Signs Rabbit, Rooster, Rat and Horse who prayed to “Tai Sui” (太岁) in 2011, please return prayer of thanks giving by or before 22/12/2011.

The Animal Signs that need to pray to Tiger God will be Dragon, Rat, Horse and Monkey. The prayers can be done on or after 05/03/2012 after 2pm.

Best wishes for a year blessed with Health, Wealth and Happiness! 我祝贺大家在新的一年里, 瑞氣滿堂, 登峰造極!

Hong Kong stocks set for trip down Dragon's back: CLSA

HONG KONG Jan 18 (Reuters) - In the year of the Black Water Dragon, investors could get torched again if they leap back into the market too soon.

But the outlook is expected to brighten considerably later in the year.

In a world of economic turmoil that's scorched investors, it's tough to make predictions, but that's the forecast for Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index if one follows the principles of feng shui - the ancient Chinese art, or science, based on 'Qi', the natural flow of energy - according to brokerage CLSA.

CLSA analysts, dressed in bright, Mandarin-collared traditional clothes, on Wednesday presented their tongue-in-cheek stab at predicting what every feng shui-savvy investor needs to know - the outlook for stocks and local property prices in these volatile times.

Their report, brandishing a colourful melange of cartoons, graphs and caricatures, features on the glossy front cover a menacing black dragon sporting red and yellow swimming trunks and a matching snorkel about to take a dip in the ocean.

If the rest of the report is to be believed, that snorkel is not coming off any time soon in the Year of the Dragon that begins on Monday.

The Hang Seng is set to remain in a funk through the first-half of the year, according to Philip Chow, who in his day job covers the transportation sector for CLSA, but on Wednesday donned the mantle of feng shui master.

"The euro zone crisis scared the rabbit into its hole last year," said Chow, referring to the Year of the Rabbit which ends next Monday, according to the lunar calendar followed in China.

Last year's feng shui forecast scored 2 "spot-on" versus 5 "dead wrong" predictions, according to CLSA's own assessment, as a second-half slump across global financial markets appeared to be at odds with the gods.

For the Year of the Rabbit, the Hang Seng Index is poised to lose nearly 18 percent.

For the Year of the Dragon, which ends in early February 2013, there's unlikely to be much respite till the market's levels of desperation peak between May and July, said Chow, adding that then the picture will brighten.

"Overall, we're still looking at a happy ending," Chow predicted.

In terms of sector picks, Chow's colleague Emily Lam, a member of CLSA's Hong Kong and China institutional sales team, said feng shui dictates that water-related sectors such as shippers and water utilities are in for a good year.

Investors placing bets on the energy sector, in particular oil and gas, are likely to end the year disappointed.

Another top pick for the year is the Macau gaming sector.

But investors were warned that their odds would be as good, or as bad, as they are in one of Macau's glitzy casinos.

"Dragons breathe fire. So avoid getting burnt," said Lam.

One unique characterstic that differentiates the dragon from other animals featured in the Chinese zodiac is that no one, with due apologies to Chinese emperors, St. George and the like, has ever seen a dragon.

"In Chinese mythology, the appearance of a dragon marks a transition of power, or a turning point," said Chow.

In tune with that prediction, Vice-President Xi Jinping is widely expected to take over as general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, a step towards eventual appointment as president in the world's second-largest economy.

"Based on his charts, there's not much to puzzle: What you see is what you get," said CLSA in the report.

Expect him to keep stability as the main focus.

"He didn't rise by rocking any boats. Nothing wrong with a spot of smooth sailing," said CLSA.

Its light-hearted look at Hong Kong's financial markets, now in its 18th year, was hosted at the Shanghai-esque China Club, in the old Bank of China headquarters in the city.

can't say this is an impressive record

Last year's feng shui forecast scored 2 "spot-on" versus 5 "dead wrong" predictions, according to CLSA's own assessment, as a second-half slump across global financial markets appeared to be at odds with the gods.

i must make my stand clear .. i'm no avid fan of feng shui especially when it is viewed occultly.

but i recognise that feng shui can be a science practised in layman form for thousands of years...
eg. they say, one's uncovered water well should not be placed at the entrance of a home as it will spell disaster for the household... common sense, right? you have young children playing at the courtyard, sooner or later, you bound to have a kid falling into it.

in this coming year of the Water Dragon, it is said that water related disasters can be expected..

of cos, the proponent feng shui "masters" have already cited Thailand/Philippines floods and the oil tanker sinking off italian coast as tell tale signs of more water related problems... and since "water" is money in Chinese parlance, but opposed by the mythical creature Dragon who should breathe fire, they expect another financial crisis to surface..

well....you decide if you want to let fengshui rule your life...
i know i won't

Wood absorb water... so should be going for 'Wood' sector?

or "fire" sector, which is opposite to "water".. ie, metals good ? haha...

actually, some of these feng shui recommendations are good ..

for example, the FS master says that this year, those born in the year of the "fill in the blank", they will be faced with difficulties at work, business or relationship problems. when looked at positively, it will encourage them to be diligent at work, be extra cautious with investments and put in extra effort to better people to people relationships. this is good, isn't it.

we can always turn something superstitious into useful practices..

Before I make a judgement on a certain subject, I always asked myself whether I'm already an "expert" on that subject.

If I'm not an "expert" on that subject, why would my judgement about the subject be correct in the first place ?

And to be an "expert" on a certain subject, one should really read up a lot on it, as well spent years on it.

On the subject of Feng Shui, I have probably read a dozen of books on it and spent maybe a decade on it.

And after a dozen books and a decade, I still cannot make a judgement on it, on whether it's a science or art and more importantly, whether it really works or not ...

Just because it did not really work for me, it does not mean that it has not worked for other people.

And what does it mean that it did not work for me ? Am I not having a peaceful, healthy and happy life now ? Dont I now use some Feng Shui features in my surroundings nowdays ?

an opinion is not a judgement, W... 8-)

if we all confuse forming an opinion as being judgemental, then we may end up being wishy washy all life long.. no opinion on anything..how can ?
