I wonder if they will at some point in time removed their 'Tall' and only give you 'Grande', 'Venti' and 'Trenta' at a higher price :)

i think it will all depends on their perception of their "strength".. if they become more popular, they may just start selling more expensive drinks...

Today, SBU increased the cost of my grande-sized macchiato from S$6.50 to S$6.80 and I was astounded that I was the only customer in the Q to protest :o . Sugar, coffee prices, milk prices have all gone up

Starbucks says raising bagged coffee prices

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/ ... 6A20110318

(Reuters) - Starbucks Coffee Co (SBUX.O) said on Friday it would raise the price of its packaged coffee by an average of 12 percent after its Chief Executive Howard Schultz once again blamed speculators for pushing coffee prices higher.

"I think it's artificial. I think financial speculation has really stepped into the market," Schultz said, adding that coffee drinkers would not "respond positively" to higher prices.

Coffee prices are rising at a staggering rate in tandem with so many other soft commodities. I now have to pay an additional S$0.60 for soy at Starbucks.

Yes, lady Lena.

My usual Grande Latte is now $6 bucks, but I'm still having it anyhow ...

Waning down from 3 cuppa to 1 cuppa per day ... cutting down on caffeine first ...

I am a starbucks shareholder but not a coffee drinker. If I do go to starbucks, I drink their "cloudy apple", which is a pretty unhealthy drink in my opinion. Similarly, I am a philips morris shareholder but not a nicotine user. I wonder if caffeine has similar addictive properties as nicotine. Had done my research on nicotine, now interested to research caffeine as I see many of the people I know seem to be quite "addicted" to caffeine.

Found this in my research:

http://www.myaddiction.com/education/ar ... ction.html

One of the difficulties with caffeine addiction is that most people don’t think of caffeine as a drug, at least not like they think of nicotine or alcohol. But the morning coffee that “gets us going” is having the same effect that any drug has – the overnight lack of caffeine is creating withdrawal symptoms. It should be obvious that after a good night’s sleep, the last thing someone ought to need is a wake up.

In fact, caffeine consumption causes the lack of mental alertness the habitual drinker is prone to. It is far from normal to have the peaks and sags of attention and energy that is the hallmark of a caffeine addict. Without repeated administration of caffeine, energy drops and mental sharpness flags. Just like other addictive drugs, caffeine creates its own problems, and just like other drugs, the “cure” for those problems is more of the drug.

Interesting research (thank you, BC).

The effect of dietary caffeine intake should be OK-ed for most people with normal renal function; it's a diuretic, and will be excreted in the urine (excretion peak about 2 hours after ingestion; half-life about 3 hours).

I enjoyed lazing around at times, so waning down Caf-coffee intake is good for me ... ... so, no coffee during weekends ...

The very cheong days, I'd need 3 cuppa now, with extra milk ...

Hi helios :D and bordercollie :D
I have been a SBUX addict for too long and the will to wean off it is too weak and difficult. I cannot think clearly if I miss my daily cup. From my experience, nicotine has a much longer effect than caffeine. Both are diuretic. If I think Jap or Chinese tea after 1500, I cannot go to sleep for the next 24 hours :o Hence I have no choice but to forego tea.
