Eh any idea what happens to durian husks ah? Are they collected and used for any purpose?

now...that's a business idea in the making....maybe it can be turned into something useful hor?
next time, i should remember to ask the vendors...

want free durians....pick them at many locations in singapore....like mandai, cck, yck, even that slip road leading into the treetop bridge at macritchie, from thomson
actually, i have collected some from pulau ubin as well....
here's a picture taken from bukit timah hill....
but hor, dont expect D24 grade stuff....maybe u get this sort... big seeds little meat

imagine some friends....drive up to malaysia and feast on durians day and night at different locations....and enjoy the view as well.....this can be an annual pilgrimage timed alongside durian season....

as u can see....singaporeans are more discerning in our tastes for durians...
thai durians are not among our favourite kinds...
now, we realize why our PRC friends dont know about the real malaysian durians.... those they sell in china are mainly imported from thailand...
personally, thai durians are so synthetic tasting...

The fruit bat is an important pollinator and seed dispenser and traditional farmers in Malaysia know that one of the species, the Dawn bat, is a very effective pollinator of durian flowers which is why they say, 'No Bats, No Durians'. Yet this harmless creature has been hunted for its flesh, for sport and even as a crop pest!
