if you read pg800, you'll know how dear W.Buffett has loved his Susie ...

he told the students at Georgia Tech when Susie was in the hospital ...

The purpose of life is to be loved by as many people as possible among those you want to have love you.

Read a few books during my time in "batu caves", the latest one being "The Missing Secret" by Joe Vitale. If you have seen "The Secret", you will know that Joe was one of the speakers for the movie/book.

Here's a summary.
Hidden Content:
Law of Attraction Explained
By Dr. Joe Vitale - November 14th, 2007

Have you ever had one of those days where gravity just isn’t working for you?

Where you can’t seem to keep your feet planted on the ground and you wind up sort of floating around in the atmosphere?

Of course not.

Why not?

Because gravity is a LAW.

It doesn’t work some days and not work other days.

It’s always working, and you are experiencing the effects of it all the time, at every moment.

But you probably never spilled a cup of coffee and said, “Damn that Law of Gravity!”

Instead, you realized it was your actions coupled with the exiting law that caused the accident.

Well, the Law of Attraction is exactly the same.

It’s a LAW - not a feel-good principle or some kind of new-age voodoo flake-out.

You can’t “do” the Law of Attraction wrong. It doesn’t turn off and on, like a light switch. It’s not subject to fate or fancy. It is a powerful but neutral force that is constantly operational.

And that means something extremely important –

It means that what you have right now (or don’t have right now) is - on some level - exactly what you want.

The good stuff and the bad stuff.

The abundance and the lack.

You’ve attracted all of it.

Why?

Because your conscious thoughts aren’t all there is.

Below the surface, a complex and deep-seated collection of beliefs are exerting an extremely powerful magnetic force in your life.

When these subconscious thoughts are in harmony with what you consciously intend, you attract it.

But if there are counter-intentions present within you - that is, thoughts and beliefs that run contrary to your conscious wishes - you will not achieve the results you want, no matter how much you want them on the surface.

Even if you do achieve them temporarily, you will ultimately lose them. The strength of your counter-intentions will ultimately win out.

This is not cause for blame or guilt. After all, you weren’t aware of the unconscious beliefs working.

What this is all about is awakening.

I’m probably the only teacher in the movie The Secret that has stood my ground about this. I’ve taken heat for it, too. I feel like Freud when he introduced his idea of the unconscious mind in the late 1800s and was booed off stage.

He didn’t back down.

Neither have I.

So how do you get clear of those contrary beliefs within your unconscious mind?

How do you get rid of the inner roadblocks and go warp speed ahead, right to whatever it is you’re trying to achieve or attract?

It took me some time to figure out the answer to that question. But once I did, it was as if all the limits in and around me shattered.

I thought life was good before - but I had no idea it could be this good.

I thought I’d achieved a pretty high level of personal and professional success - but the success I experienced once I got clear absolutely blew me away.

I had finally discovered –

“The Missing Secret” that makes the Law of Attraction work the way you want it to - 100% of the time.

As I mentioned, I was fortunate enough to have been a part of The Secret - the fantastic movie that is awakening the world to the power of the Law of Attraction.

From Oprah to Larry King Live and on virtually every PC and DVD player in the country, this inspiring movie seems to be everywhere.

As you can imagine, being in it has brought me a level of visibility I never imagined, and invited literally thousands of conversations with people about what the Law of Attraction really is, how it works, and what it can do.

For every person who has told me how much the Law of Attraction has positively transformed his or her life, there have been three who have related a different experience:

Confusion.

Inconsistencies.

Frustration.

They were inspired by the idea of the Law of Attraction, but felt like it was failing them on a day-to-day and moment-to-moment level.

What about you?

* Are you getting some of what you want, but not all of it?
* Do you feel like the Law of Attraction “works” for you sometimes, but not all the time?
* Are there things in your life that seem to run counter to your conscious intentions?
* Have you already experienced the incredible power of the Law of Attraction, and are you ready to take it to a whole new level?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you should order a copy of my new audioprogram “The Missing Secret: How to Use The Law of Attraction to Attract What You Want — Every Time.”

Note: See www.nightingale.com/homepage.aspx?linkt ... ia28500106 for details. Look under “New Releases” on the left.)

In it, I’ll tell you everything I’ve learned, done, proven, and taught others about how to correctly use the Law of Attraction to consistently get the results you’re looking for, including:

* The 5-step “Attractor Factor” Process, 5 easy, straightforward steps - including the critical missing secret for fully harmonizing with the Law of Attraction - that will empower you to create and attract anything you want in life, from wealth to health to love to balance and more. Use it every time you consciously form an intention. The results will astonish you.
* The Ho’Oponopono Process, an extraordinary ancient methodology that will open your mind to possibilities you never knew existed before. I’m talking about creating a new reality not just for yourself, but for other people. Even the whole world. Oh yes, it is possible. And when you find out just how easy it is to do, your life and the lives of those you care about will never be the same.
* Seven Cleaning and Clearing Methods that will help you identify, isolate, and eliminate all of the counter-intentions that are currently attracting undesired results into your life - so you can harmonize your true intentions with the Law of Attraction and start receiving everything you want, all the time, without interruption.

And that’s not all. You’ll also discover –

* How to automatically release anything that’s in the way of what you want to be, do, or have. This potent technique does the trick in a heartbeat.
* Never work another day in your life, once you discover the secret of inspired action.
* The insight than enabled me to blow the ceiling off my income. What a difference this little gem will make in your life.
* Four words to add to your intention statement that will make it 100x more powerful. The Universe really responds when you frame your intentions in this specific way.
* Is your intention the best thing for you? There’s a simple, foolproof way to find out. It only takes a second, and can save you immeasurable challenges down the road.
* How to eradicate the “virus of the mind”. Got negativity? The negative images that bombard you each day from all sides bear a lot of the blame. I’ll tell you how to protect yourself from these misery-magnets. Do these few things and you’ll notice an immediate change in what’s showing up in your life.
* The totally counter-intuitive belief that will make you wealthy. It helped me turn $15,000 into twice that with virtually no effort at all.
* The single most mind-blowing story you’ll ever hear. I share it in Session 5 of The Missing Secret. To call it shocking would be an understatement. The best part? You will walk away from it with one of the most effective transformation tools ever discovered. The effects? Too incredible to describe. You’ll just have to find out for yourself.
* The top 10 limiting beliefs. A great starting point for shaking up your awareness and uncovering what may be holding you back at the subconscious level
* How to erase all your fears forever. Even of disaster? Disease? Terrorists? Yes. And much more easily than you can imagine. They all come down to one surprising thing. Get rid of that, and your fears are gone too. Just imagine how free you’ll feel.
* Four phrases you must set as the “background tape” in your mind. Once you do, magic and miracles are going to start appearing everywhere. You won’t be able to stop them.
* What forgiveness really means - why you need it - and how to get it in an instant. Surprising - and completely life-changing.
* How to transform any moment into a great one, whether you’re stuck in traffic, working at your desk, or walking through the grocery store. Life is a much more pleasant experience when you’ve got this exercise on hand.
* Three words that will instantaneously put you in a state of rapture. I didn’t believe it until I tried it myself. Now I don’t know how I lived without it.
* The ultimate shortcut to attracting whatever you want. Truth be told, this one secret alone will negate the need for all the rest of the information in the program - IF you can fully understand and utilize it. But just learning about it will increase your attraction power tenfold.

Did I gain much from it? Not a whole lot.

If you have read Tony Robbins "Awaken The Giant Within" almost 20 yrs ago, you probably know that alot of Self Help books in recent years has more or less replicated what was covered in that book or from "Think and Grow Rich".

BTW, I think "Awaken" and "Think" are excellent books :)

"The Missing Secret" is available from NLB

Book: How to get rich by Felix Dennis

You Can't Be a Millionaire. Unless... By Dr. Steve Sjuggerud, Daily Wealth

A friend of mine has a net worth that's comfortably in the tens of millions of dollars.

I don't know for sure of course... It's not polite to ask. But I know of his business dealings. And I've been to his stunning house on the ocean in Palm Beach County, Florida. (A few years ago, he bought his neighbor's house – rumor was he didn't like the dog barking next door. He connected the two properties, renovating the neighbor's house to match his own.)

For the last decade or so, he's spent his days doing what he wants... which, it turns out, ends up making him even more money.

My friend's story starts at a Dale Carnegie public speaking course maybe 30 years ago. In that course, my friend was asked to pick the one thing he'd like to achieve in life and give a speech on how he planned to achieve it.

My friend wanted to do so many things in life... He wanted to teach a college-level course (his father was a college professor), he wanted to write a screenplay for a movie, he wanted to appreciate art as well as any art critic, he wanted to write a fiction story and have it published... The list goes on. Oh, also on the list was "make a lot of money."

He thought about his list. And he figured if he accomplished the last one – "make a lot of money" – then he'd have the opportunity to accomplish the other things on that list, too. So that's what he gave his speech about... How he'd get rich.

What my friend did to get rich was to set out to get rich. For years, he made that his main goal. You might not like the idea of dedicating your life to amassing wealth. (And you don't need a fortune to live well.) But it worked for my friend... and it worked Felix Dennis.

Over the weekend, I read one of the best books ever written on getting rich. It's Felix Dennis' How to Get Rich.

Unlike most of the writers of self-help books, Dennis is actually very rich. And unlike most self-help writers, he didn't make his money pitching self-help seminars or DVDs. Instead, he made hundreds of millions of dollars publishing magazines like Maxim.

In short, he didn't need to write How to Get Rich. But I'm glad he did. It is brutally honest and filled with wisdom. You should read How to Get Rich with a highlighter in hand. Like my friend, Dennis set out to get rich. He makes no bones about it... which makes reading this book refreshing.

As Dennis says, getting rich isn't easy to do, and most people won't even try. People as rich as Dennis are rare. Few people as rich as Dennis have actually tried to put down on paper, for the layman, the legitimate secrets of getting rich. Dennis did, and did it well.

At DailyWealth, we have spent lots of time with many hugely rich entrepreneurs. We have heard the stories of how they got to where they are now... we've heard their insights. No book we're aware of captures those insights as well as this one.

Are you capable of being rich? Are you willing to make it your goal now, so you can later conquer all your other dreams, like my friend and Felix Dennis?

Read How to Get Rich and find out...
It's all about "how much you made when you were right" & "how little you lost when you were wrong"

Just finished The Heretics of Finance by Andy Lo and Jasmina H. The 2 professors interviewed TA practitioners regarding how they achieved success in their respective fields like commodities, stocks, options or currency trading.

Among the traders interviewed was Laszlo Birinyi.

I find the book quite disorganized unlike the Market Wizard series. Personally I have not heard of several of the TA guys mentioned.

One thing I find interesting was a para from one of the TA persons. He talks about how academics never really understood TA and hence to gain credit, they "invented" behavioral finance which is essentially TA in action. This point I do agree.

I think the two academics were just trying to make some book royalty money when they wrote this book.

The Market Wizard series or TREND FOLLOWING by Mike Covel is a much better read.

yes, MM ge.

I enjoy reading Wizard books a lot after Winston introduced them to me ...

I'm currently reading Black Swan, and must admit that this book is very profound ... I can't help but to dig out Pappy's notes in July'08, as below. I am at the section whereby, the author mentioned on "dopamine" & addiction:

The Black Swan

I've finished Nassim Nicolas Taleb's The Black Swan. This is the 2nd part of my long book review. There is a 1st part floating somewhere in the forum, but I think it's more appropriate to be put here. For those who wish to read the first part, check this out:

http://bullythebear.blogspot.com/2008/0 ... taleb.html

--------------------------------------------------------------
The review is split into two parts because the books is exceedingly thick and I had to write down my thoughts halfway before it gets diluted and lost in transition.

This had to be the most the most relevant book I’ve read in my life. It’s like I’ve been born blind, then after a corrective surgery, I see the world as it is now but had been elusive to me before. I can never look at the world again because the book had permanently changed me. Don’t go out and grab the book because I said so…my experiences lead me to different perspectives when I read the book, which will be vastly different from another reader.

The second half of the books talks about more technical stuff. I confess I do not really understand the whole of it in the first reading. Perhaps, like Intelligent investor, the true gist of it will only be realized after subsequent readings. The author highlights the fallacy of treating everyday occurrences to fit the bell-curve (the Standard normal or Gaussian distribution). This fallacy is so rampant that it permeates most of the ‘scientific’ methods regarding a range of socio-economic disciplines like economics, sociology and finance. I’ve never believed in the Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) and efficient market hypothesis (EMT), so this didn’t struck me hard enough to feel defensive about his ideas.

I guess the author wants us to follow a bottom-up approach rather than a top-down approach in everything. A bottom-up approach means using real, empirical data to look at the world. A top-down approach means learning ‘scientific’ theories and principles, then fitting data that follows them and ignoring or downplaying data that do not.

A simple example would be a stereotypical Western trained doctor who abhor using traditional chinese methods like acupuncture or herbs, judging it unscientific (though it’s very empirically based) because of top-down approach.

Am I also blinded by my own theoretical framework?

The author suggests a few ways to deal with the uncertain world:

1. Make a distinction between positive black swans and negative black swans. Black swans events can benefit or cripple. Once identified, expose yourself maximally from positive black swans, and limit exposure to negative ones

2. Invest in preparedness, not in prediction

3. Seize any opportunity, even those that looks like opportunity. This is the same as exposing one to positive black swans. Work hard, not in grunt work, but in maximizing one’s exposure to opportunities.

4. When caught between unknown probabilities of choices presented to you, focus on the (known) consequences of each choice and not on the probabilities. It’s also known as Pascal’s Wager.

I started this book being blind, and I finished this book knowing that I will never view the world the same again.

Quite interesting that Jim Roger latest book, A Gift to My Children, wrote that his advice to his daughters, they shouldn't get married until 28 and should avoid having drinks and dinner alone with boss,

They need you more than you need them.
