舍得 she de - - - give and take

in general sense, she de means give and take; however, if u do chinese transliteration as verbs = 动词 dong ci, & each word is taken apart literally, there is a deeper meaning:

舍:舍弃 (to give away something)

得:获得 (to gain something back)

all things are possible until they are proved impossible - - - and even the impossible may only be so, as of now

- Quote from Pearl S. Buck (1892 – 1973); a 20th century American woman and Nobel-prized writer who wrote The Good Earth (a contemporary classics, depicting a social economical view of china when the last emperor reigned and the politics that encircled ordinary people during those times). Pearl Buck grew up in China, and spoke Chinese before she spoke English, henceforth she often wrote of China and Asia in her fiction novels.

The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were.

Finally, I know what winston meant by "...Be Do Have..." ( rich people mentality )

Poor people think: "If I have a lot of money, then I could do what I want and I'd be a success." ( "Have Do Be" mentality )

Rich people think: " If I become a successful person, I will be able to do what I need to do and to have what I want, including a lot of money."

From "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker.

Somehow, it takes me ages to read one book -- having too many "half-read" books. This one gets my "four stars" rating...

Hi Apong,

The "Be Do Have" that I've on my signature comes from one of the "Conversations with God" books.

Basically, the author was saying that you need to "Be" first. Then "Do" and only then will you "Have".

Example:-
1) If you want to be rich, you need to first think like a rich person, talk like a rich person, have the feelings of a rich person. This is the "Be" part.
2) "Do" means behaving and acting like a rich person.
3) And only then will you "Have" money.
Another way of saying it is "fake it till you make it".

I think the above is also used in Tantric meditation where one uses one ego to "become" whoever that one wants to become eg. a compassionate being, a being full of wisdom, an enlightened being etc. It starts with visualization and feeling, then behaving and finally having.

Take care,
Winston
