Durian - King of Fruits 01 (May 08 - May 09)

i agree with 802, D24 is by far the best of the breed.

purplecloud : i always patronize this stall at geyland lor19, and have found them to be reasonable and not pushy at all. sometimes, eat half way, alamak, the unopen side yielded bad fruits, i go tell them, and they compensate me with a new durian at no extra charge.. they also have tables and chairs for customers...never eaten durian at balestier before.

mm : "lao zha bo" the meat got texture bo? hahaha...these days, farmers cross pollinate different types of durians to cultivate yet another DXX... got for us consumers lah...maybe oneday, they will evolve D-REX for us...hahaha...

it was actually only last night when i started surfing that i realized they have "Raja Kunyit" - Raja, i understand is a Malay word to mean "King"...so, perhaps this is even better. Never tried it, never seen it here in Singapore. Never bought durians in malaysia, they always wana makan us, before we makan the durians...hahaha..

but many stalls will try to pass off non-D24 as D24, so how can i tell? D24, has a unique shape...it is almost round in shape, but just near the stalk, there's an slight indentation...

this is fine and well, except, that "Jiu JI" also like dat....hahaha....blur

pcloud : ok...then u must know which stall exactly, bcos around lor19, there are many many shops...

very easy,.... lor 19 is actually is actually a slip road from the main road(of cos lor hor? kay kong one). the stall is situated at the corner of lor19 (occupies the L shape corner), so it quite a big stall (selling other fruits as well)
on the other side of the slip road, also next to the main road, is a small opening where tables/chairs are meant for "having here" customers...

so, when u go there...tell any of the vendors : "kennynah recommended", they will give u solid solid and fairly priced durians... i dont own the stall nor have any shares in their business....

ps : please dont say the last paragraph...if not, later u say wrongly, durians hurled at you....becos they think you "knn" them...hahahaha...  8-)

Surf around, maybe someone has already mapped the location in Google maps, or if you own a GPS, maybe a waypoint is already available. :D

GR .. thanks. Hey the GPS is a wonderful gadget ... u never get lost on this tiny island with it, even trekking in a jungle :) I've tried it

For those interested in finding out where the combat durian store at Balestier Rd is located .. it is a makeshift store located in front of Ruby Plaza (beside Quality Hotel).

The uncle recommends the "Red Prawn” durian supposing sweet and soft with a little bitter aftertaste @ $10/kg. Avg wt is abt 2 kg per durian ..... Ken has provided ano stall at Geylang (see above) Happy feasting all durian fans .....

wah $10/kg.... u all very rich people...

the geylang lor19 stall, best...u can get as cheap as 3 small D24 for $10 or a bigger one for $5.... for durians, it's not the size of the fruit that matters, it's the inner beauty....hahaha...

for $20, you can choose 5 decent sized D24...eat until, shiok....
