Word to the Wise: Capitulate

To "capitulate" (kuh-PICH-uh-late) is to give up and accept defeat.
Example (as I used it today): "For me, going to bed before midnight had always been unthinkable. It was capitulating to a dull life."

San San wrote:舍得 she de - - - give and take

in general sense, she de means give and take; however, if u do chinese transliteration as verbs = 动词 dong ci, & each word is taken apart literally, there is a deeper meaning:

舍:舍弃 (to give away something)

得:获得 (to gain something back)

I just checked my little dictionary, and from my understanding :

舍得 means not stingy, willingly part with what you own. and should pronouns as she3 de. (now then I know, thank you.) but we usually say she3 de2.

å¾— has many meanings and usages and 3 pronunciations. here it mean doable or possible.

Some years ago, I think I saw a guy called dennis saying what you wrote above in wall strait. Maybe you were misled by him ?

Did the article say the same thing as what you wrote ? I could be wrong in interpreting the dictionary. I am only a layman, not belonging to any profession especially languages.
