APWR went up 13% with no specific news!! :!: :!: :!:

Is that the full moon effect after the China/ HK IPO listings of various wind turbines??

September 27, 2010 (Chinavestor) The China stock monitor picked up an unusual move by A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR), a wind turbine maker today. The stock is up over 10 percent at 2:30 P.M. with no stock specific news. At least no official press release or a significant news is out there from respectable sources. At least not on yahoo finance, Bloomberg or Google finance. By the way, Google is a great source of info because they aggregate news from a wide variety of sources.

To make story short, I got a Tweet lead today pointing to a website called wind4me.com. And here is the story that moves A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR) - to the best of my knowledge.

"APWR Booking New DPG Biomass and Hydro Power Contracts". It is important to read comments though. One of them says "Why don’t they release an official PR??? Just does not make sense…."

I tend to agree with this. We have seen too much of relatively unknown websites tarnishing reputation of Chinese companies in September. Think of Duoyuan Global Water Inc (NYSE:DGW) or Duoyuan Printing, Inc. (NYSE:DYP). While the intent of this news is totally the opposite, the low profile of the source suggests investors better exercise caution! I would feel much better if A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR) would step forward and make a public statement. Until then it's just a guessing game, as far as I'm concerned.

By the way; if you happened to read today's WSJ, see the last page of Section C. Overcapacity build up in the Chinese wind generation systems...

If you have a theory behinfd the surge for A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR), please share with the class.

from reuters:

* Signs three-phase, six-year deal

* Says contract provides better sales visibility into H2

* Expects to recognize revenue over six years

* Shares up 9 pct in extended trade

Sept 29 (Reuters) - Chinese green energy company A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd (APWR.O) said it received a three-phase, six-year RMB 1.87 billion ($279 million) engineering, procurement and construction contract (EPC) from Baishan Long Run Water Conservancy Development Co Ltd.

A-Power, a provider of distributed power generation systems and maker of wind turbines, said it expects to recognize revenue over six years on a percentage of completion method.

The Baishan long run water conservancy project, located in the city of Baishan in Jilin province, is divided into three phases, with each phase expected to last twenty four months.

A-Power competes with bigger rivals such as German solar cell producer Q-Cells (QCEG.DE) and Spanish windfarm operator Iberdrola (IBE.MC) in the emerging global clean-power sector.

Shares of the Shenyang, China-based company were up about 9 percent at $8.25 in extended trade. They closed at $7.58 Wednesday on Nasdaq

they just delivered their 1st prototype wind turbine to the US and it looks like the texas wind farm deal is almost in the bag. that deal alone is worth 1.5 bil USD.
