Cathie Wood (Ark Invest)

Careful with the illiquid stocks in their selection!

eg MTLS (very interesting 3D printing company! certainly a buy at 10-20$!) was taken into the portfolios => surge from 30 to 80 early Feb.
ARK funds start to sell their positions => from 80 (Feb9, even a high of 87) to 45 yesterday

Yes, they seemed to be selling their Liquid Stocks and supporting Tesla, which is 9% of some of their ETFs. And also Bitcoin.

Wait till they dont have anymore Liquid Assets to sell ..

ARK’s Cathie Wood Disrupted Investment Management. She’s Not Done Yet.

By Evie Liu

ARK has taken in $37 billion in new money since the beginning of 2020, the third-highest inflow among money managers, behind only Vanguard Group and BlackRock’s iShares, each of which has hundreds of funds.

ARK owns companies that Wood expects to return at least 15% annually, which means their shares will double in five years.

“She can remember more facts and figures than anyone I’ve ever met. She has a tremendous head start in any debate because of the pure horsepower of her brain.

Afternoon Wood: ARK Founder Says "Carnage" Coming In Energy & Finance, "Optimistic" About Tech Names

BY TYLER DURDEN

"There's a very rapid rotation into value here".

What I believe now is that the bull market was broadening out to incorporate value.

"The worst thing that could happen to us would be a tech bubble," she said, apparently unaware of what has happened in the last 12 months.

"We're about to publish, within a week or two, our new forecasts on Tesla. Our confidence in Tesla has gone up for several reasons. It didn't lose share when other auto manufacturers brought their EVs to market. But we do expect it will lose share,"

"Tesla has passed through that phase of its life," she says. It's "leading the charge" in battery cost and with its AI chip, which she says was 4 years ahead of Nvidia when it was produced.

She also claimed Tesla had more data collected than "anyone out there" and that Tesla was, until recently, able to improve performance with over-the-air updates.

"We think the carnage will be significant in energy and financial services in the long term," Wood said.

A Big Risk Facing Cathie Wood's Ark ETFs

by John Divine

When Ark hits a period of underperformance, we can expect redemptions. And that's when things could get ugly.

If investors begin selling Ark ETFs, the underlying securities will need to be sold. As of Feb. 13, there were a full 25 companies in which Ark Invest owned more than 10% of outstanding shares.

It makes its funds susceptible to being front-run by hedge funds selling or shorting some of these more illiquid names.

When Ark has to sell large amounts of small companies, flooding the market with shares, it's not going to get a great price on the open market.

On Friday, the fund family quietly amended its prospectus to change its own rules on ETF portfolios; Ark ETFs can now invest more than 30% of their holdings in a single security and can own more than 20% of a single company.

When you have a lot of money you can't really invest in them because they don't move the needle anymore.

ARKs are really relevant nowadays.

Just make sure you know what's happening: what the buys and sells are!
