PSS takes the plunge with Ezra
Ezra Holdings unit Lewek Shipping has handed a $23 million order to subsea specialist Perry Slingsby Systems (PSS) for five state of the art remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) systems.

The contract will see PSS supply two 4000 metre Triton XLXs, two 3000 metre Triton XLXs and one 3000 metre Triton XLS, with the option to extend the deal with a further two systems.

All ROVs will be delivered by the second quarter of next year.

Each work class system is equipped with ICE net controls, integrated pilot and co-pilot control chairs, bespoke Dynacon launch and recovery systems, plus 750 metre excursion tether management units for enhanced operational capability.

PSS, part of Aberdeen-based Triton Group, will provide ship interface engineering and installation services from its support base in Singapore, from September through to delivery.

Once in service, the ROVS will be deployed across Ezra's global operations and will be supported by PSS from its network of service centres in Aberdeen, Singapore, Houston and Brazil.

Speculative point - will be great if Ezra uses its Chevron contact and squeeze in on the Gorgon LNG project. I am sure if i can think of this - Lionel Lee also can. ;) ;) ;)

Some old news from early Sept 09:

Ezra unit wins Chevron job
Singapore's Ezra Holdings has won a new long-term contract with Chevron Thailand.
Local subsidiary Emas Energy Services (Thailand) will provide well pumping services to the US supermajor's offshore operations in the Gulf of Thailand.

The contract is in line with Ezra's strategy to provide more value-added services to its clients, said a source.

Ezra Holdings: Renewing charter rates; maintain BUY

We like these contracts as these are long term in nature, thus imparting earnings visibility to its asset base. The geographical proximity will also aid in managing the fleet efficiently. We are maintaining our BUYrating and fair value of S$2.00. (Kelly Chia)

Ezra Holdings
Sept 14 close: $1.89
DBS GROUP RESEARCH, Sept 14

EZRA announced last Friday new and renewal charter contracts for three existing anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels. These are long-term charters of 5 1/2 to six years each. The combined value is worth US$152 million.

We estimate that the day charter rates for the three AHTS were about US$2.24 per bhp, assuming each AHTS has an average capacity of 10,800 bhp. This is higher than the US$2 per bhp day charter rates built into our earnings model, and the estimated <1.8 per bhp day charter rates for the initial contracts.

We believe last Friday's announcement and Ezra's earlier contracts in April 2009 have vindicated our contrarian view that the day charter rates for deepwater AHTS would dip < 30 per cent below peak levels, as per our sector reports since late 2008. We estimate that the drop from peak levels is only between 10-20 per cent to-date.

This latest announcement by Ezra is in line with our report dated Aug 31, when we highlighted on potential catalysts for the group in the coming months.

We maintain our target price of $2.20 for Ezra. In view of the 22 per cent price upside potential and the possible catalysts ahead, we maintain our 'buy' rating on Ezra.
BUY

<TOL: Wonder who is the next broker to release a report that is higher than $2.20?? CIMB-GK? Citigroup? Goldman??
Any takers at current price?? $2.20 going once, going twice.... >

Thanks Aspellian, though I am unsure of the impact for Ezra. I guess this means spending more money......

Ha Ha ... sometimes before they want to get out, they first pump up the price and promptly announce it.

If you are a long term holder, then there's no need to worry about such distractions. But if you are sitting on a huge profit and were thinking of taking some profits, then it's another thing to take note off.

Hi Winston,

thanks for sharing your vast experience. you always keep newbies like me on the toes and in perspective. its much appreciated.

As stated, i will watch with eagle eyes on Ezra's price. So far its price/movenebt is relatively healthy:
- up on down days
- down on low volume
- up on high volume
PS: anyone with different opinions? please share.

but on flip side - market makers in ezra could be pumping up Ezra's price when market is down, so that it will be a glare in everyone's screens - a BIG UP GREEN  VS all the down RED tickers. when market is up, they slowly sell into strength... yes- i am fantazing on what JL's disciples are doing again..... (could it be possible?? anyone care to advise?)

market is also on uptrend; will ride the wave while it last.
Ezra seems like a leader amongst the offshore counters - vs swiber and ks energy etc

awaiting more brokers update and possibilty more news from Ezra.
i have tot that there's some news to of STP Energy and the gas field to be announced in future- i did some background snoop... STP Energy is also linked to Ezra's founder (father) and they have some gas discovery off New Zealand - see next entry. BUT please note that its pure speculation - do your own background research. . . .
